About

For over 75 years, D.A. Loewen Electric Ltd. has been a trusted name in electrical contracting across southern Manitoba. What began in 1948 as a small Winkler operation — wiring rural homes and farms when electricity was just being brought into southern Manitoba — has grown into a full-service electrical contractor serving commercial, industrial, agricultural, and residential customers. Through the years, one thing hasn't changed: a business built on honesty, integrity, and the highest standard of ethical conduct.

HISTORY

Don Loewen (DA) moves to Winkler and partners with Isaac Krahn to found Stanley Electric (Later to become DA Loewen Electric).  Winkler’s population was around 1000 people and most of work was related to bringing power to rural areas and farms for the first time.  

1948
1950

Stanley Electric shop on main street (where royal bank is) burns in fire. Donald Loewen goes on his own and starts DA Loewen Electric and operates from his home basement on 6th Street. 

Winkler building boom happens and demand for electrical support grows – Triple E RV, Kroeker Farms, NuSteel, Winkler Arena, Garden Valley Collegiate…  

1960
1966

Don Loewen partners with Manfred Enns. The business expands to include a retail store for electrical parts and selling insurance. Company name is changed to Enns & Loewen Electric & Insurance.  

DA Loewen Electric moves to 355 4th Street and builds new shop.  

1972
1975

Sons Marv and Harv Loewen partner to purchase DA Loewen Electric.  

The building boom in Winkler continues with Winker Southland Mall, McDonalds and many other projects. DA Loewen does wiring for Grace Mennonite Church and Winkler MB Church. 

1980
2001

DA Loewen moves operations to 249 Manitoba Road (Existing Location) 

Brothers Gary and Darrel Berg partner to purchase DA Loewen from Marv and Harv

2006
2019

Chris Loewen and Devin Rachul partner to purchase DA Loewen from Darrel Berg. 

D.A. Loewen celebrates milestone of serving southern Manitoba for 75 years.

Current Staff
